What is your theoretical orientation?
In order to approach problems in a comprehensive and effective way, I draw from a large number of treatment modalities. I am skilled at a number of counseling approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic, solution-focused and interpersonal. I frequently use mind-body techniques, some drawing from Eastern medicine practices. When we begin our work, I will describe to you the strategies most likely to benefit you. You too, may already know what works for you and what doesn't. Together we will determine the focus of our work, its duration, and the modalities we use.

What are your fees?
My fee is $140 per session. I offer an initial, half-hour consultation at no charge. The purpose of this first meeting is to determine whether we are a good match, and whether your needs correspond with my areas of specialty. (If we find that we are not a good fit, I will help you find another therapist.)
Phone session and email fees are based on the length of the consultation. Phone counseling is set up like an office visit, except that you call in instead. You must book your phone appointment in advance by calling (773) 880-1311.
If you have questions about fees, or if you think you cannot afford therapy, please contact me and I will try to find an appropriate arrangement for you.

Do you accept insurance?
I am a provider for Blue Cross and Blue Shield PPO and EPO. I have made a careful decision not to participate in any HMO or managed care programs. I believe that by working with a therapist who is not a managed care participant you enjoy a number of benefits:
If your insurance plan permits you to work with someone out of network, I will provide you with a monthly statement which you can submit to the insurance company. The insurance company will then reimburse you according to your plan's provisions.

How can I contact you?
I am generally available either by phone or by email. You may always leave a confidential voice message for me by calling: (773) 880-1311. Please leave a brief message, a phone number, and convenient times to reach you and I will return your call as soon as possible. (Please let me know if I may leave a message for you, in case I miss you).
Through the week I check messages several times each day. If you call on the weekend, during holidays, and on business days after 5:00 PM I will usually call you back the next business day. If I become unavailable for an extended time, my voice mail message will provide you with the name of a colleague to contact, if necessary.
